Angela Steiner

Biography

I am a classically trained pianist who is well versed in improvisation. I’ve music directed and conducted everything from melodramas played on tack pianos to Benjamin Britten operas. My emphasis in grad school was collaborative piano. I also studied voice and vocal pathology. As a singer myself, I feel very confident when teaching vocals to ensembles and soloists. Currently, I have been doing most of my work music directing musicals in the regional circuit. I spend 6-9 months a year traveling. I’m more than happy to travel for work.

I am quick on my feet, I respond well to high stress situations and can re-harmonize, transpose and restructure on the spot.

Besides musical theater, I have worked with a lot of children’s theater companies and church choirs.

I am also great at reducing orchestrations for smaller ensembles.

Just as comfortable piano conducting as well as conducting with a baton.

I’m looking to get more into vocal arranging and orchestration versus just musical direction.
