Biography

Dubbed the "Leading Lady of Crossover” by Classical Singer magazine, Amy Justman has built a career spanning musical theater, classical music, and beyond. Recent highlights include her sixth Broadway company, covering and performing for both Renée Fleming and Jessie Mueller in the revival of Carousel; originating the role of Adrienne Weill in the world premiere of Double Helix at Bay Street Theater, and a return to Carnegie Hall as the soloist for Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo. This coming season, she will sing a return performance with Glacier Symphony for Handel’s Messiah and will debut with Tulsa Symphony for Mozart’s Requiem.

After teenage and college years working as a musical director, pit pianist and conductor, Amy made her Broadway debut in the revival of Company, performing the role of Susan as well as playing piano as part of the actor‐orchestra. She was the musical director of the Yale a cappella group, Mixed Company, which she later put to good use as a swing for the Broadway company of In Transit.

Amy has also been a voice teacher and coach for over 25 years. She is currently a voice instructor for Yale's Shen Curriculum for Musical Theater and an adjunct professor for Marymount Manhattan College. Her master classes throughout the United States include Bard College, SUNY New Paltz, Georgia Southern University, University of Southern Maine, Werk with BWAY, and Making It On Broadway.
