Biography

AMY ENGELHARDT scored O'Neill/Richard Rodgers Award Finalist BASTARD JONES, produced by the cell theatre and nominated for the Off-Broadway Alliance’s Best New Musical Award. Other work: TRIPTYCH (book/music/lyrics, New York Transit Museum), lyrics for commissioned adaptations of Carl Sagan's CONTACT (2009 Puget Sound Theatre Award), NICHOLAS NICKLEBY, TESLA (New Musicals Foundation), music/lyrics for A COMEDY OF ERAS (with the Flying Karamazov Brothers) and ANNIE DREAM WILL DO (book/music/lyrics, Prospect Theatre Musical Writers Lab). IMPACT, her solo one-act storytelling play with music, was developed at the National Winter Playwrights Retreat (CO) and incubated at the cell nyc. It streamed on demand in 2021, premiered at Emerging Artists Theatre's New Works Festival in fall 2022, won the Jury Prize for Best Score at the National Women's Theatre Festival and premiered in Europe at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023. Current projects include O'Neill semi-finalist/Kleban Finalist A COLLECTIBLE SENSATION (music/lyrics) with Arianna Rose (book/lyrics), NYCDA workshop/TYA Song Slam/York NEO featured piece THE COMPLETELY TRUE STORY... (music/lyrics) with Molly Horan (book/lyrics) and THE WILLING (music/lyrics) for Minnesota's Dunbar-Hofmann Productions. From 1998-2012, Amy recorded 4 albums and toured the US and Europe as the sole female vocalist/writer/arranger for Grammy-nominated, genre-busting vocal band The Bobs. She is the only honorary female member of the Vienna Boys Choir. Amy received the Burman Award for Songwriting from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) and co-Created TUNE IN TIME, New York’s Musical Theater Game Show (York Theatre 2014-2016).
