Alison Sharpe

Biography

Alison Sharpe is a music education major at the Wells School of Music at West Chester University. Alison has performed in various school marching bands, jazz bands, wind ensembles, pit orchestras, choirs, and small ensembles, as well as the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey as Principal Chair Clarinetist of the Symphonic Woodwinds and Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, Alison performed as a Soprano II with her choir at Carnegie Hall alongside professional singers and an orchestra. One of her fondest memories was receiving a ‘Gold’ rating for her improvisation solo at the NJMEA State Jazz Festival. Outside of performing, Alison works in numerous behind-the-scenes positions at Princeton Symphony Orchestra and the Princeton Festival. Her most admirable moments at the orchestra were when she was a coordinator for the PSO Gala and when she was a panelist for Maestra in 2023. Alison has done masterclasses with renowned clarinetists including Princeton Symphony Orchestra principal chair clarinetist, Pascal Archer, and professional clarinetist, John Frazier. When it comes to her college achievements, Alison is president of the Allegro Voices choir, a clarinetist in the Wind Ensemble, the most prestigious ensemble at the university, and will be attending the Rose Bowl parade with the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band this December. Outside of music, Alison is a competitive sailing coach at Toms River Yacht Club where she instructs racing Sunfish, Laser, and Opti ages 7-17, but primarily works with teens. She enjoys hiking with friends, eating tacos, and plays with her dog, Molly.
