Biography
Alicia Walter is a singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist in New York City, originally from Chicago. Known for her “near-cosmic voice” (WIRED) and “stratosphere of songwriting all her own” (Consequence of Sound), Walter has released two albums under her name, Right Noise (BIG EGO Records) and I Am Alicia (Sooper Records). She is an active performer in venues of all types across the country, and she rose to acclaim as leader of the Chicago-based indie art rock outfit, Oshwa.
Walter’s music has been featured in nationally syndicated TV shows, including “This Is Us” and “All Rise.” In 2019, she performed as featured solo vocalist with Pacific Northwest Ballet in the world premiere of "The Trees, The Trees,” performing for over 22,000 patrons. She has been commissioned to write works for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Studs Terkel's 'Working' at Symphony Space, ESOPUS Magazine's 25th Edition, and percussionist Evan Chapman's debut solo album.
