Biography
AJ Yi (they/them) is a Chinese-American music director, pianist, and conductor. They are currently working as a Music Assistant/Keyboard 2 Sub for the world premiere of Wonder at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), and previously were the music assistant for the A.R.T.'s North American premiere of Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York).
As a member of the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club, AJ music directed shows such as Songs For A New World (Keyboard/Conductor), Anastasia (Keyboard 1), Merrily We Roll Along, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Footloose (Keyboard 2). They’ve also worked on the music team for Into the Woods (Ass. MD/Keyboard 1), The Human Comedy (Ass. MD/Conductor), and numerous original musical works such as OUT: An Asian American Musical (Ass. MD/Keyboard) and Moonbox Productions’ Once Upon A Carnival (Piano).
AJ recently graduated with a B.A. in Music from Harvard University, with minors in Neuroscience and Global Health & Health Policy. Outside of theater, they sing with the University Choir Ferris Fellows and the Din & Tonics.
