Job Description

The Judith Enyeart Reynolds College of Arts and Letters at Missouri State University invites applicants for a tenure-track Coordinator of Musical Theatre at the rank of Associate Professor to begin in August 2023. The Coordinator holds an endowed position, the Clif & Gail Smart Professorship in Musical Theatre. The successful applicant must hold a terminal degree and professional experience in one of the contributing areas (Music, Theatre, Dance) and have a proven record of academic, administrative and professional experience, with significant achievement as a performer, director, music director, and/or choreographer.

The Associate Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The Associate Professor’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Associate Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Associate Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Additional Qualifications
Terminal Master’s degree (60 hours) OR Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (with significant commensurate professional experience) with an emphasis in acting, directing, musical theatre, music direction, and/or choreography. Professional affiliations with SAG/AFTRA, Actor’s Equity and/or SDC.
