August Monthly Meeting

Maestra Directory members, join us for our August Monthly Meeting! Tune in for a conversation on resumé and cover letter writing for musicians with special guest Jill Ohayan.

This virtual workshop will teach artists how to maximize their skills and transfer them to writing for “survival” jobs outside of the music industry. We’ll look at what a good cover letter and resume look like vs. ones that need improvement, and touch on AI as the gatekeeper of interviews and how to bypass them to secure an in-person interview.

Jill Ohayon is a Montreal-born librettist, songwriter, actor, and singer. She studied philosophy and religion before attending McGill Law School and obtaining her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law. After spending a few years working as a litigator and human rights lawyer, she made the decision to pursue her love of writing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. (It is the best decision she has ever made.) Jill has also worked as an editor for over seven years, specializing in guiding clients through applications for academic programs and jobs in various fields. She was named the recipient of the Council for Canadian American Relations Award as well as the Shubert Foundation Scholarship. Her legal background and justice-oriented mindset inform her writing, and she is drawn to themes of identity, community, and resilience. She is a member of the Maestra Directory, the Dramatists Guild, MUSE, and the Law Society of Ontario.
