Biography
Yejune Kim (she/her/hers) is a composer / writer / arranger from Seoul, South Korea. She received her MFA from NYU Tisch, Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, and her BA from Korea National University of Arts with a major in Musicology and a minor in Composition. She was a producer and arranger of a music accompaniments application, “Instream Music” (2018 - 2021), and also worked as a lyricist and composer for a short musical film, “Crack” (2015), and a composer for the soundtrack of a short musical, “Occupied Seats and Delayed Admission” (2018). She recently started her new journey in NYC, premiering her new musical, “Heavy Heaven” (2023, book/lyrics/music), as a participant of the New York Theatre Festival, which was nominated in the Best Production Short, Best Music Score, and Best Singer categories. She presented one song from her musical, Bari, The Abandoned Princess (2023, music/lyrics), at Joe’s Pub GMTWP Cycle 32 Showcase, and had a staged reading at TADA Teatre as part of Spark Theatre Festival. She has served as a pianist and music director for various shows, including as an associate music director for the award-winning musical, "Fly To Tomorrow," which underwent a 29-hour reading at Playwrights Horizons. She is currently working as a music teacher in Vienna Music.
