Emily Johnson-Erday
She/Her
Biography
Emily Johnson-Erday (she/her) is a songwriter, actor-musician, and Theater Kid (TM) raised in the old-time music community of North Carolina. Her happy place is the intersection of traditional American music and musical theater.
Emily holds a BFA in drama from UNC Greensboro and is a composer in the current 2nd year cohort of the BMI Musical Theater Writing Workshop. She's proud to be the music director (and resident banjo-pickin' elf) of the nerdy immersive Off-Broadway show The Fantasy Tavern.
As a solo musician, Emily creates new Appalachian music with a genuine, folk-rooted sound, a powerful narrative arc, and a lyrical empathy that feels like a musical embrace.
