Halle Mitchell

Biography

Halle Mitchell is a graduate of Princeton University with a Bachelor's degree in Music and certificates in Music Theater and Statistics and Machine Learning. She is an active composer, lyricist, arranger, orchestrator, and music director, but has a specific passion for music directing. Halle is currently music directing at Millbrook Playhouse this summer, where she just finished A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline and is now working on Escape to Margaritaville.

At Princeton, she music directed multiple musicals including Little Women, 35MM: A Musical Exhibition, Junie B. Jones the Musical, and Mangroves (which she also did some orchestrations for) all with the Princeton University Players. Additionally, she conducted with the Princeton Triangle Club for performances of Singin' in the Train, Campelot, and the annual first week cabaret. She was the student conductor of the Playhouse Choir, a departmental ensemble that focuses on musical theater repertoire, and has conducted her own arrangements in the group. Outside of theater, she served as the music director of the Princeton Katzenjammers a cappella group (where she also has arranged several new pieces) for 2 years, and participated in the Glee Club.

Halle has also been writing music her entire life, and has released music on Spotify. More recently, she wrote Three Loves as her senior thesis musical, which was a contemporary musical theater sung-through piece that followed the three archetypes of love throughout a protagonist’s life. In addition to writing the book, music, and lyrics, she also music directed and orchestrated the show. Halle has mainly written in a pop style and utilized her experiences as a singer and pianist, but is interested in continuing to write in a theatrical capacity in the future.
