Biography

Wyn Alyse Thomas (she/her), is a writer, actor, director, and producer from Buffalo Grove, Illinois. She is currently developing her original musical "First Semester," (Winner: the New Georgia Group Grant, CURO Research Award) about an anxious overachiever experiencing her first semester of college, which will be having a workshop production in Georgia in the spring. She wrote the book, music, and lyrics for “Commitment Issues” (Winner: Innovation in One Act Playwriting KCACTF Region IV), which is now published by Next Stage Press and available on major music streaming platforms. Her play “stand. Up. HIT!” an exploration of the young female experience post #MeToo, was recently published by Samuel French. Her play “Write Their Wrongs” was published by Playscripts in the #ENOUGH: Every Fifteen Minutes anthology after it was performed in staged readings in over 40 locations around the country (including the Lincoln Center, the Goodman, and the Alliance) on the nationwide reading day of #ENOUGH: Plays to End Gun Violence in 2022. Other playwriting credits include “Scared” (second place: Nuevas Voces Festival, Finalist: #ENOUGH: Plays to End Gun Violence), “Beautiful Daughter” (First Place Drama: UWW Creative Writing Festival, Finalist: Prism Theatre New Works, Honorable Mention: Nuevas Voces). She currently serves as the artistic director of the Thalian Blackfriars in Athens, GA, where she promotes development and performance of original work written by her fellow students.
