Tessa Barcelo
Biography
Tessa Barcelo (she/they/he) is a 19-year-old, composer, playwright, performer, and multi-instrumentalist from Andover, Massachusetts. She has written two full-length musical (Toyland is available to watch on YouTube and stream on all platforms) and continues to write both on her own and with collaborators. In 2019, their song "Queen" was selected as one of six winners of the NEA Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge. It was workshopped, recorded, and even submitted for Grammy consideration. As a queer person in the arts, Tessa loves telling stories that tackle some of the world's most pressing issues. Her self-produced music can be found on most streaming platforms and you can find them on most social media @tessabarcelo. She currently attends Johns Hopkins University to study creative writing.
