Shawn Lynn Royer
Biography
Shawn Royer (formerly Goodman) is a jazz musician, woodwind doubler (clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophones, flute), and educator. She is an Assistant Professor of Music at Marian University in Indianapolis where she resides with her wife and daughter.
Shawn has conducted several musicals, has played as a pit musicians for hundreds of musicals, and also contracts musicians for pit orchestras and special events.
Shawn was the clarinet clinician for the Music for All (MFA) National Festival in 2015 and 2017, and for MFA's Summer Symposium in 2015 and 2019. Shawn placed runner-up in the Sisters-in-Jazz International Collegiate Competition in 2000. She is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Vandoren Artist Clinician.
Shawn holds a BM in Education with a concentration in Jazz Studies from the University of Indianapolis and a MM in Clarinet Performance from the Butler University School of Music. She hopes to finish her PhD in Music Education with a minor in jazz pedagogy and specialization in saxophone in 2021.
