Biography

Sav Souza is a queer and trans performer and writer living in Brooklyn. Their musical Retrograde was produced in the 2018 Polyphone Festival (Artistic Director César Alvarez). Their play Father//Daughter was developed at Fresh Ground Pepper’s 2021 BRB Artists Retreat. We Start In Manhattan, a musical written with their writing & life partner Ariella Serur, was a semifinalist for the 2023 National Musical Theater Conference, received a workshop presentation in the 2023 Powerhouse at Vassar season, and Powerhouse presented a private industry presentation of the musical in New York City in fall of 2023, as well as two sold out concerts at 54 Below and GreenRoom 42. The musical was selected for the Fall Musical retreat at Live & In Color and, which was awarded a NAMT 2024 Frank Young Fund award For New Musicals Writers Residency Grant.
