Biography
Nancy Whelan spent thirteen months as lead pianist/Key 1 for the An American in Paris national tour. Prior to AAIP, she was AMD and Children's MD for the national tour of Matilda the Musical. Nancy has been AMD and orchestra contractor with North Carolina Theatre (NCT) for fourteen seasons, was MD for Hairspray and Next to Normal (NCT), and has been local keyboardist for numerous Broadway tours (including Wicked, Beautiful, Book of Mormon, Mamma Mia!, Billy Elliot, et al.) She has 35+ years experience as a collaborative pianist with instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers (including the world-renowned Carolina Ballet), and performed with the North Carolina Symphony on such programs as Petrushka, Carmina Burana and Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony. Nancy earned her Masters of Music in Accompanying and Bachelor of Music in Music Ed., and is a member of AFM Local 500 (NC).
