Megan Shumate Beaumont
Megan Shumate Beaumont joined the Wicked orchestra on Broadway in October 2022. Since moving to New York City in 2008, she has been working as a freelance musician playing in orchestras including the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Albany Symphony, and in Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera.
A native of West Virginia, Megan has been performing since the age of four. She began her studies with voice and piano before discovering her love for the clarinet. In 2014 she earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Masters of Music degree from Florida State University.
In addition to performing, Megan enjoys sharing her love of music with her students. She taught clarinet and saxophone at New York Music School, at the Preparatory Division of Bard College Conservatory of Music, and served on adjunct faculty at Georgia College and Mercer University, where she taught clarinet lessons and coached chamber music.
When not playing music, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons in their New Jersey home.
