  • Biography

Lorena Perez Batista is a Venezuelan composer based in Los Angeles. She began her musical journey in her hometown of Punto Fijo as a drummer, and her music is therefore heavily influenced by Latin American rhythms. With the support of her family, she studied at Miami Dade College and earned an AS in Music Business, and a BS in Music Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music in Boston. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and began working with different film and TV composers.

After joining Tyler Bates’ music team, Lorena contributed to the music for films like Deadpool 2 (FOX), John Wick 3 (Lionsgate) and Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw (Universal), and TV shows like The Punisher (Netflix), Stumptown (ABC), The Purge (Blumhouse), and 68 Whiskey (Paramount). She also worked as the score coordinator for animatics like DC Comics’ Dark Nights Death Metal, for video games like Far Cry: New Dawn, and for live-action shows like R.U.N from Cirque Du Soleil.

Lorena’s most recent project includes score coordinating and working hand in hand with Walt Disney Imagineers to bring Tyler Bates’ original music to EPCOT’s theme park ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Her musical background has also influenced the rhythms heard on animated shows like Victor and Valentino (Cartoon Network), Spirit Riding Free (Dreamworks), and Big City Greens (Disney), and on films like Dayshift (Netflix), Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw (Universal), Yo Soy un Político (Amazon/HBO Max) and Papita, Maní y Tostón.

She has played with a number of bands in a variety of musical styles ranging from Salsa to Rock, and performed live on stages like the Microsoft Theater, Boston’s Symphony Hall, and TEDx. Lorena has won national competitions like the “Vive Tu Musica” with her former band El Frente, and earned a spot in the top 5 worldwide players in the “Hit Like A Girl” female drummer competition.

Aside from composing, drumming, and arranging, Lorena spends quality time teaching drums at the “Academy of Music for the Blind” where she works with some of the most gifted children in Los Angeles. Currently, Lorena is developing an animated children's adventure series for preschoolers that focuses on Social and Emotional Learning through original songs that feature folk genres from around the world.
