Biography

Lorena Perez Batista, a Venezuelan composer now based in Los Angeles, began her musical journey as a drummer in her hometown of Punto Fijo. Therefore, her compositions naturally vibrate with a diverse array of rhythmic influences that have become part of her sound. Supported by her family, she continued her education at Miami Dade College, earning an AS in Music Business, and later graduated with a BS in Music Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music.

After joining Tyler Bates’ music team, Lorena contributed to the music for films like Day Shift, Deadpool 2, John Wick 3 and Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw, and for TV shows like The Punisher, Stumptown, and The Purge. Additionally, she took on the roles of score coordinator and music editor for video games like Far Cry: New Dawn, live-action shows like R.U.N by Cirque Du Soleil, and productions like X and Fight World. Lorena's most exciting endeavor with Tyler’s team involved score coordinating and collaborating closely with Walt Disney Imagineers to bring Tyler's original music to life on EPCOT's theme park ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Lorena’s musical background, particularly in percussion, has also influenced the rhythms heard on animated shows like Victor and Valentino, Spirit Riding Free, and Big City Greens, and on albums like Joachim Horsley’s Via Havana which features piano-driven re-imaginings of Classical works using Afro-Caribbean rhythms. In addition, Lorena also loves teaching young children, so she spends quality time sharing her drumming skills at the "Academy of Music for the Blind," teaming up with some incredibly talented kids in Los Angeles.

Currently, Lorena is part of the music team of the reboot of Dora the Explorer, led by composer Bobby Villarreal, contributing with additional music and lots of driving percussion to bring Dora’s exciting world to life. Simultaneously, Lorena is developing Tutu and Pash, an audiovisual project close to her heart centered around a girl and her drum. This creative venture is designed to expose young children to the rich world of folk rhythms using original songs to foster preschool education in a fun and engaging way.
