Biography

Lauren Taslitz is a lyricist-librettist. Writing credits include: Regretting Almost Everything (Barrington Stage and Feinstein’s/54 Below), You Gave Me A Sheep (National Asian Artists Project), A Statue of Stature (Prospect Theatre Company), Join the Club (Evanston Arts Center and Skokie Theatre), and In My Book (Coastal Carolina University).

In development: Mimosa, (First Level Winner, NAMT 15 Minute New Musical Challenge, 2020, NY Theatre Barn New Works Series; Workshop and Choreography Lab, Singapore-based 7.8 Collective; Concert - Broadways Future Songbook Series at the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts); Bak Chang (Commission, The 5thAvenue Theatre, Seattle), The Quantification of Relative Human Insignificance (Finalist, Sigworks 2016), For the Birds, and After They’ve Gone. Lauren is a 2020 MacDowell Fellow. With Danny Ursetti, Lauren is the Executive Producer of The Regretting Almost Everything Concept Album.

Lauren assisted William Finn in a series of masterclasses in lyric writing during the pandemic, and produced 2 virtual, and 1 live, concert of student work coming out of those classes. She also produced the initial reading of William Finn and Danny Ursetti's song cycle, Once Every Hundred Years.

Lauren has participated in residencies at Goodspeed, The Catwalk Institute, Barrington Stage and The 5th Ave Theatre in Seattle. She has been at teaching artist at Michigan State University and Coastal Carolina University. Her work has been performed at Joe’s Pub, Lincoln Center, NYTB and New York and Chicago venues. She has an MFA from NYU Tisch, a JD from Harvard Law School, and a BA from Princeton University.
