Kristin Bamberger Marchilena

Biography

I am a 15-year veteran vocal specialist with a strong instrumental background. Most of my career has been as a music educator and vocal coach. For each of my 15 years in the profession, I have served as MD for my school's musical. I have significant experience preparing 8th grade students for high school auditions—specifically for LaGuardia High School of the Arts—and 12th grade students for college auditions.

While my students achieve high levels of excellence in performance, most important in my classroom is a sense of belonging for all students. My priorities are student engagement, autonomy, community, and listening. The changing adolescent voice is my primary research focus, particularly with regard to motivation and engagement. I have a special interest in the vocal development of transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid students.
