Biography

Kirsten is the recipient of a Richard Rodgers Award, Rockefeller Grant, Dramatist Guild Fellowship, Johnny Mercer Writers Fellowship, and a Lincoln Center Honorarium. She has participated in writers residencies at the ASCAP/Disney workshop, the Lark Playwrights Development Center, the Dramatist Guild Fellowship program, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, Goodspeed Musicals, The National Alliance for Musical Theatre, The Orchard Project and Theatreworks Silicon Valley, among others.
Current theatre commissions include a new libretto for Paramount’s Roman Holiday, MGM’s Benny & Joon (The Old Globe Theatre, and The Paper Mill Playhouse), Heart & Souls (Universal Theatricals), and the new musical, Measure of Success (Amanda Lipitz Productions). She wrote the book and lyrics for Little Miss Fix-it (as seen on NBC); and book for Mrs. Sharp (Richard Rodgers Award: dir. by Michael Greif). Her other musicals include: Out of My Head (licensed by Steelespring Stage Rights); and The Cable Car Nymphomaniac (BATA nomination).
Previously, Kirsten lived in Paris where she worked as a Paris Correspondent and wrote the Paris City Guide for USA TODAY.com. While in Paris, she penned the popular weekly column, “The Sexy Expat,” about an American journalist trying to navigate the French.
Additionally, Kirsten has created sketches for personalities such as James Franco, Jared Leto, Christopher Walken, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kathie Lee & Hoda, Steve Buscemi, Deion Sanders, Arianna Huffington, Cyndi Lauper, and Queen Latifah, to name a few. Her work has been seen in venues throughout New York City including Joe’s Pub, 54 Below, The Public, The Palace Theatre on Broadway, and Lincoln Center. She holds a BFA in Acting from USC, and an MFA from The Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU. Proud member of ASCAP and The Dramatist Guild. She is represented at Creative Artists Agency.
