Ianthe Marini
Biography
I have my Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in Conducting from the University of Maryland, where I served as Professional Chorus Master for the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for three years. I have prepared the chorus for a number of professional collaborations for the NSO at the Kennedy Center, as well as for the BSO at Meyerhoff Performance Hall. I am currently the Distinguished Chair for Choral Activities at Columbus State University, where I also serve as Professional Chorus Master for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. I recently served the Springer Opera House (the historic state theater of Georgia) as its first female pit conductor of a mainstage production. I am a professional conductor of orchestras, choirs, pit orchestras, and of teaching musical theater singing. I am also an avid performer, having been recognized as "Best Actress in a Musical" for my work as Anita in West Side Story (Boston). I have extensive experience in the areas of conducting professionally (musical theater repertoire, classical orchestral/choral repertoire), teaching (choral conductor, orchestral conductor, voice teacher, acting teacher), and acting (regional productions, award winning, American Repertory Theater, Boston). I identify as an artist, actress, conductor, musician, dancer, singer, and creative type who works to help others empathize and understand a truth different from their own.
