Hannah LeGrand
Biography
Hannah LeGrand is an actively performing classical violinist and educator, based in New York City. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the Greatbatch School of Music. She is the author of “Understanding the Fingerboard: An Anthology of Exercises for the Beginner Violinist.”
Hannah has worked with a number of reputable teachers and performers from institutions such as the Eastman School of Music, Frost School of Music, Syracuse University, Boston Conservatory, the Juilliard School, Mannes at the New School, and NYU. She has also attended Summer Strings at NYU, Meadowmount School of Music, and the Castleman Quartet Program.
Aside from her classical background, Hannah also has experience in jazz, pop, and contemporary music. She regularly collaborates on new music with independent artists, and involves herself in a diverse number of projects ranging in style and genre. She also has started to develop a unique voice in the realm of electronic music, exploring how violin may be used in unique combinations with effects.
Hannah is the founder of quartet.wav, a collaborative chamber platform which aims at finding an identity in the digital realm. The truest expression of the project will likely involve new music, and exploring new forms of using the string quartet.
