Grace Alai
Biography
Hello! My name is Grace (she/they) and I am a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist earning my BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Vocal Performance with minors in drama and music technology. I am in the music education program as well, so I have learned skills such as orchestrating and arranging. In addition to performing I love recording.
I am entering the 54th season of the College Light Opera Company where I will perform 7 musicals/light operas. I have been a rehearsal pianist and a sound designer where I used Mainstage to perform with technological sounds live. Most of my experience is in singing, however I have experience as a rehearsal pianist and as a pit musician as a violinist and guitarist. My background in instrumental performance makes me a strong musician as a vocalist. Perfect pitch also makes me a strong sight reader especially in vocal music.
My passions lie in music performance as well as singing/songwriting. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community and one of my dreams is to premiere a queer role in a musical. I am passionate about putting on new works by underrepresented composers.
