Emma Plotkin
Biography
Emma Plotkin is a lyricist-composer, vocalist, and voice teacher based in Ithaca, NY. Most recently, she wrote the music for “An Odyssey” as part of the Hangar Theatre’s mainstage season. Emma's music and writing have been featured with CocoRosie, who has over 20 million streams on Spotify, 2-time Drama Desk award winner - Robert Wilson’s Circus of Stillness featured on the ABC Network and Sweetshop Revolution Dance Company. She’s honed her skills as a lyricist composer from the brilliant Kleban award winner Sarah Hammond and Pulitzer Prize Winner Jackie Sibblies Drury alongside training with the National Theatre Institute and Siti Company Intensive. She is driven by the desire to make collaborative and communal work that is as innovative as it is meaningful.
Emma is also a voice teacher who uses her training in somatic and experiential anatomy to teach students to embrace technique, artistry, and the joy of singing.
