Emily A Cohn

Biography

Emily is NYC based, MD/pianist/keyboardist. She earned her Bachelors degree in Jazz Piano from California State University Northridge and quickly fell into accompanying choirs and musicals, largely due to her excellent sight reading skills. Soon after she was asked to MD a show and learned on the job what that meant. Having been a marching band nerd playing flute, piccolo, oboe, vibes, percussion, and being drum major, she also loved leading the group and making music...musical.

Emily is a regular audition accompanist, audition prep coach, and working with Broadway prep youth theatre and local schools. She also has a private piano lesson studio. Emily is very skilled in transcribing and transposing music using Sibelius and Finale.

Emily's leadership style is based in positivity and honesty. She works hard to bring everyone up and strives always to be patient, understanding and respectful. She wants to tell the story with the highest quality of musicianship - all while having fun and adding value to others.

Emily is highly experienced in the pop/rock, groove, soul, jazz, R&B genres, as well as classical musical theatre.

When all is said and done, Emily LOVES playing piano and takes every chance she gets to add joy, precision and story telling.
