Ellie Blight
Biography
Ellie is a final year music student at the University of York, where she studies Music with a focus on the cello. Outside of her studies she is involved with multiple theatre and music societies, which enable her to play in many different shows in off-campus theatres. As well as this, she is heavily involved in producing, with a particular focus on press and publicity and design, as she loves to be as involved as possible with theatre in the university.
She has been a member of the company of the National Youth Music Theatre since 2017, playing in their production of ‘Sunday in the Park with George’ at The Other Palace, and ‘Super Hero’, a touring production. As well as these she has been a part of the Christmas concerts, adding to her experience of the industry with many talented collaborators.
As a classical musician she leads the cello section of the University Symphony Orchestra and Baroque Ensemble, giving her leadership opportunities and a collaborative approach to rehearsals and sectionals. These experiences have aided in building her musicianship, sense of fun and professionalism under a musical director or conductor.
