Copeland Bredemeyer
Biography
Copeland Bredemeyer is a flutist, songwriter and composer based in Bloomington, IN. They received their Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the Jacobs School of Music (2022). They have performed on flute and piccolo in the IU JSoM Nutcracker (2021), the Sounds of South production of “Carousel” (2021), the short film “COME HOME” by Spencer Bowman (2020), the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra (2018-2022), the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble (2017-2018), and various IU JSoM ensembles. They have experience teaching flute both privately (2018-present) and through the Stafford Music Academy (2019-2020). Copeland was a songwriter for a musical adaptation of the short film "An Average Story" by Yaniv Segalovich, titled "An Average Musical" (2017), which was a collaborative project made by the students of Aaron Ricciardi's "Musical Theatre Songwriting" class at IU. They were commissioned to write a musical theatre song for a high school production put on by the Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship in 2018.
Copeland also has an extensive repertoire of original music for voice and piano, released under the names "Copeland James" and "Sara Bredemeyer." They released an album titled Heavy Hearts (2017) under the name Sara Bredemeyer, and have released self-produced singles such as "Garden of Secrets and Goodbyes," "Sinkrony," and "Dear (2022)" released under the name "Copeland James" on Bandcamp.
