Becky Mercer
Biography
Originally from Fife, Scotland, Cardiff-based Becky graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2021 with an MMus Orchestral Performance.
During her degree, Becky specialised in chamber music, research and community music.
She has studied with Sue Baxendale, Beccy Goldberg, Tim Thorpe, and Neil Shewan.
Becky's passions include chamber ensemble playing, playing in musical theatre, and making classical music accessible for all, particularly for women and gender minorities.
Becky was the recipient of an annual RWCMD scholarship, a finalist in the Phillip Jones Brass Ensemble Prize 2020, and the winner of the Philippa Whitelaw Yardley Memorial Award 2020. She completed her Masters degree with the assistance of the McGlashan Trust and the Cross Trust.
Following a year as Students' Union President at RWCMD, Becky is now a freelance horn player, educator, Instrumental Ambassador with the Benedetti Foundation, and Marketing & Admin Officer with Sinfonia Cymru.
