Avery Sands Duer
Biography
I am a classically trained pianist and music director who has played piano for 15 years. I have studied with Steinway Artist Yoshie Akimoto for piano and currently study organ under Gail Archer at Vassar College. Awards include winner of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition (2020), first prize for the Connecticut Bach Competition, first prize for the Bach and French categories of the Fairfield County Schubert Club Competition. I have also placed second at the Renee B. Fisher Competition, Chappaqua Orchestra Concerto Competition, and the Chopin Category for the Schubert Club Competition, among more. As a music director, I have directed two shows at Vassar College (In the Green and the Theory of Relativity) and worked as music director for Offbeat Players Theater Company, directinng Godspell. I have experience as a pit musician (piano, percussion, and bass). Music is my biggest passion and I work hard to do what I love.
