Avery Britt
Biography
Avery Britt is a composer, conductor, vocalist, instrumentalist, and music educator based in Atlanta. As a composer, Avery was honored to be named a Finalist of the Vox Novus “Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame” with Keri Lee Pierson in 2023 and the Loyola Marymount New Music on the Bluff Festival in 2022 with her piece for solo soprano, “Books & Bronze”. Her piece for string orchestra, “Overcast”, made its debut with the Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra in the fall of 2022 with Avery as its conductor. Other works, including pieces from her original musical The Fall of an Empire, have been performed locally with companies such as Momentum Arts. Avery currently studies composition and conducting with world-renowned conductor Dr. Gregory Pritchard and University of Georgia professor Dr. Emily Koh.
As a vocalist, Avery was honored to have been named the 2020-2021 National Champion of the VFW Auxiliary “Get Excited For Red, White, and Blue!” competition. At the state level, Avery has been named a Finalist for the 2023 Governor’s Honors Program with a major in Soprano Voice. In musical theater, at the Georgia Thespian Conference, Avery was named as one of sixteen Closing Performances for two consecutive years. At regional competition Access Broadway, Avery competed with the Oconee Youth School of Performance and was recognized as the Teen All-Star Vocalist in 2020 and 2021. In March 2021, she was also awarded the Ultimate Singer award as a part of the Ultimate Performer Competition. Currently, she trains with City Springs Theatre’s Elite Pre-Professional Company where she works with Kristine Reese, Billy Tighe, and Holt McCarley. Other vocal instructors include professor at the University of Georgia Michael Hadary and Broadway performer Amy Spanger.
Avery also pursues music education within her school and the greater community. She is currently the Music Coordinator at Momentum Arts, where she music directs full and abridged musical theatre productions including Newsies, Catch Me If You Can, Disaster!, and Mamma Mia! with Momentum Arts. Avery was recognized for Outstanding Student Direction and Excellence in Music at the Junior Theater Festival in 2021 and 2022 for her work with the casts of High School Musical 2 JR. and Mary Poppins JR. In 2023, Avery music directed and choreographed an award-winning number in the Momentum Arts production of Guys and Dolls JR. at the Junior Theater Festival. Avery also creates accompaniment tracks for auditions, cabarets, showcases, and full productions, including the sixty tracks she created digitally for Momentum Arts’ full production of Disaster! Other theaters who have used her accompaniment tracks include City Springs Theatre Company and Smoke Rise Academy of the Arts. Along with voice, Avery also plays piano, drums, and guitar. Avery has performed as a piano accompanist at the Out Front Theatre Company in their cabaret, “Born to Entertain”.
