The role we need to fill:
Join the MTI team as our Senior Music Specialist! This position will provide support for the Music and Materials Department based on tasks assigned by the Supervisor. It reports to the Development Supervisor to establish and adhere to completion timelines for various tasks and coordinates with the Department Director and Development Supervisor with the materials development process— preparing files, formatting, Finale work, proofing, etc.– all leading to finalized material creation and/or revision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Finale and Sibelius work – including vocal book creation, score/part formatting or revision, and other miscellaneous music editing assigned by Department Director or Development Supervisor
• Score and orchestration and libretto proofreading as required
• Assisting with error identification in existing materials, when applicable; working to correct existing materials for re-prints
• Oversee the operations of MTI in-house recording studio
• PDF compilation for scores and parts as needed – including review for proper page turns
• Assisting with unique (“special”) music requests as they arise – including in-house preparation of parts/scores for high-profile concert engagements, music review/analysis, etc.
• Other general support for the Materials Department, including printing/binding, music related research, and other various tasks as determined by the department Director
• Creating new transpositions to fulfill new Transpositions-On-Demand orders (i.e. Finale work)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Extensive background in music, including intimate knowledge of orchestration, music copying practices, key players and needs of a typical music production staff, and other music elements specifically related to the musical theatre industry
• Organizational skills; ability to work under deadlines; attention to detail; multi-tasking abilities; aesthetic sensibilities
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
• Strong proofreading and problem-solving skills
• Technologically minded and self-motivated
• High proficiency with the latest versions of Finale and Sibelius, ProTools, Mainstage, Ableton, QLab, Adobe Creative Suites (Acrobat Professional, Photoshop, InDesign), and Microsoft Office; basic audio editing software
• Must be well-versed in MAC platform, including the latest operating systems

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with significant relevant experience will be considered.
