Job Description

This position is for the 2023-2024 school year.

An opening is available for the 2023-2024 school year at the Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts (in Sterling Heights, MI) for an experienced teacher of musical theatre. The Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts (WCSPA) is a Theatre Arts magnet program that draws its students from the three high schools (9-12th) in the Warren Consolidated School District. Students participate in an intensive 2 hour block that is part of their regular school day. The class is team taught and includes multiple performances and out of school activities.

The applicant must be a certified teacher or willing to get their certification. Applicants must have a minimum of a B.A. or B.F.A. in higher education. They should have extensive training and experience in the areas of theatre, musical theatre and musical performance. Ideal applicants would have experience in teaching music to both singers and musicians, directing, conducting, technical theatre experience and be able to provide live accompaniment.

All WCSPA staff work collaboratively on shows and projects throughout the school year. Staff members participate in the preparation and the execution of all performances, productions and events. In addition to teaching classes, the staff is expected to share in the supervision of students after school as well as assist with business related to the shows, events and class planning. This requires a significant commitment of time after school working with both students and fellow staff members.
