Job Description

GRAD SCHOOL OPPORTUNITY!!

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is accepting applications for a Masters of Music in Orchestral Conducting and Graduate Assistantship in Musical Theatre, to start in Fall 2023. Each year, CCM accepts one person to satisfy the core curriculum of the MM in Orchestral Conducting while working as a pianist and music director in the Musical Theatre department.
The core curriculum can be found at the link below (https://webapps2.uc.edu/ecurriculum/degreeprograms/program/majormap/16MAS-CD-MM-CD-OR ) and course substitutions in choral conducting, jazz theory, and musical theatre history are available.

The successful candidate will be an excellent collaborative pianist with extensive experience in musical theatre. The audition and interview process takes place on campus at CCM, by appointment. Auditioners are asked 1) to prepare one piece that displays their strengths as a pianist, from any genre, optionally memorized and 2) to sight-read pieces from several styles in the musical theatre canon.

Alumni of this program have worked on Broadway productions and national tours of Wicked, The Lion King, Les Miserables, The Book of Mormon, Hamilton, An American in Paris, In the Heights, The King and I, A Chorus Line, The Addams Family, The Little Mermaid, Bullets Over Broadway, Peter and the Starcatcher, Cinderella, Bandstand, Cats, Jagged Little Pill, and many others!
