Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes 2023 Orchestra Auditions

Job Description

Registration for orchestra auditions for the 2023 Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes opens on April 15 and runs through April 30, 2023.

In mid-May, select applicants will receive an invitation to perform at a blind audition which will take place at Radio City Music Hall between June 26-30, 2023. Audition dates and times will be assigned, and music and click tracks will be provided in advance by Radio City. Callbacks may also be requested in that timeframe.

Musicians who audition will be considered for both a chair position and substitute opportunities. Musicians will be able to audition for up to three chairs. In scheduling substitutes, Radio City will give preference to musicians who have auditioned. If you are only interested in substitute opportunities, please note that in your registration.

Open Positions:
Reed 1: flute, piccolo (1 position)
Reed 2: lead alto sax, flute, piccolo, clarinet, soprano sax (2 positions)
Reed 3: alto sax, flute and Bb clarinet (2 positions)
Reed 4: flute, clarinet, clar in A, clar in Eb, bass clar, tenor sax (2 positions)
Reed 5: oboe, English horn, clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor sax (2 positions)
1st and 2nd French Horns (4 positions)
Trumpets with lead capabilities (5 positions)
1st and 2nd Trombones (3 positions)
Bass trombone (1 position)
Tuba (2 positions)
Harp (2 positions)
Violin (14 positions)
Viola (4 positions)
Cello (4 positions)
Percussion including mallet-kb instruments, timpani, and elect perc (1 position)

Anticipated Rehearsal/Show Schedule (subject to change):
First rehearsal: November 9, 2023 (TBC)
First public performance: November 17, 2023 (TBC)
Lock-in through: November 24, 2023 (TBC)
Closing performance: January 1, 2024 (TBC)

2023 Rates:
Base wage per show: $214.32
OT shows (shows 13-19 in any work week) pay 1.5x
Doubles: 12.5% for the first, 6.25% for each additional double
Health benefits: $43.12 per show (maximum of $301.84/week)
Pension: 16.786%
